| Marco Zerboni, chef and owner, is very Italian (despite his Eastern European looks!) Born and bred in Rome, he worked as a chef all over Italy and London before deciding to open his own business here in sunny Sheffield.
He now spends most of his days holed up in the tiny kitchen at Taste, (image of marco) cooking like a trooper and occasionally popping his head through the service hatch to say good morning to customers (despite the fact that it may be half past four in the afternoon – yes, his English is that good).
Out the front the girls handle the day to day running of the place whilst simultaneously translating Marco’s Italianisms to customers and explaining to them that he does actually have legs and not just a head, two arms and the belly visible through the service hatch. They catch the plates of food flying through the service hatch and then run them up the stairs one in each hand and one balanced on the tops of their head.
The boys in the kitchen dodge the pots and pans flung (Italian-style) across the kitchen, whilst helping Marco to produce such culinary delights as those found on some of our sample menus.
